1. Being global-minded allow us to be aware of our surroundings and of the different cultures and religions of various individuals. At the same time, we should learn how to respect their religion and culture however weird it is. The vision of Victoria School is to teach each Victorian to be a Gentlemen, Sportsmen and Professional. In order to be a gentlemen and a professional, we must be global minded to ensure that we are able to communicate with scholars from different countries and also respect our classmates with different backgrounds and cultures more easily. Global-mindedness is also one of Victoria School's core values. So, it is very important for us to make sure that we are global-minded at all times. Being global-minded allow is to make friends with people from other nations easily. Being global-minded is an important value that would be very useful for us especially when we are working in the future as we are able to communicate and easily make friends with people of different backgrounds, religion and cultures.
2. One example where the global-mindedness in me could be evident to my friends is when I communicate with the China scholars. This shows that I am able to respect their cultures and lifestyles. Thus, this action would allow us to form a strong friendship regardless of our different backgrounds. Global-mindedness would also be a very useful skill when we go for overseas learning journey as we are better able to communicate with the locals at that country and form friendships with much ease.
3. The development of global-mindedness in a person is best fostered by the school programmers such as school camps where we go overseas to Malaysia for camping purposes. The school also organizes overseas exchange trips with schools in China and this is something that is very important in helping us be more aware of the lifestyles and cultures of the various types of people there. This would help us interact with our China scholars with more ease as we are able to understand their lifestyle better. However, as Victorians, we should also take some initiative to interact with our classmates especially the China scholars. This is turn, would allows us to bond better as a class.
4. It is important for us to be determined to be global-minded before we can actually foster global-mindedness in ourselves. If we are just being global-minded for the sake of it, it would be very difficult to communicate with others and form friendships with each other. Friendships are formed as we understand each other and respect each other's culture, lifestyles and religions. Global mindedness also helps us to grow in body, mind and soul and in the process, be a much better, courteous and compassionate guy. Thus, global-mindedness is a very important skill that helps one to be a much better and easy-going person in the future.

As Victorians, we grow in an environment deeply enriched with culture and the school's own traditions as we are slowly groomed into future leaders in three different aspects: a Gentleman, a Professional and a Sportsman. As teenagers that grow up in a first world country where everything is treated for granted, it is essential to let the future generations to understand how truly fortunate they are and they should be grateful for whatever thats is given to them, and at the same time, working at their best to contribute to the society. Being global-minded allows us to understand the world around us as we discover the differences in one another but find much unique qualities within each one as well.
2)How may global-mindedness in you be evident to your friends?
By making an effort to participate in events such as international friendship day, or even to converse in other languages with schoolmates of different races. Global mindedness can also be seen from visitations to foreign classmates' houses, and understanding why they moved to Singapore instead of their home country.
3)What do you think best fosters the development of global mindedness in a person?
Schools and government may organize celebrations for certain cultural festivals in Singapore to give the citizens of other races an insight to the culture of that specific ethnic group. This will allow people to appreciate the beauty of the culture and learn to accept and understand one another. This will thus make many more much more curious to find out more, therefore becoming much more interested.
4) Briefly comment on the comment
''A global mindset combines an openness to and awareness of diversity across cultures. It respects how different countries do things and had the imagination to appreciate why other cultures do them that way. But a global mindset is also incisive- to push the limits of one's own way of doing things''
I agree. With a global mindset, we will be able to respect and appreciate the different cultures and traditions of other people in the world. Their ways of interpretting things may be different from us but we should always learn to appreciate others as everyone tend to do things differently.
