1. It is important for every Victoria to be global-minded so that we will know more about the cultures and traditions of others. In this way, we can be sensitive to their feelings and not disrespect or insult them or their behaviour unknowingly. We can also expand our circle of friends by adding these people to it and also gain more friends of other cultures by understanding their ways. For example, by understanding the Chinese scholars' ways we can interact and communicate with them more easily.

2. I am being global-minded when I speak to the Chinese scholars, while respecting their culture and not saying anything insensitive. I am also being global-minded when I go to other countries, for example during overseas exchange programs or school camps, when I speak to the locals, in a different way than I would speak to Singaporeans.

3. I think the aforementioned school camps and overseas exchange programs help to foster the development of global-mindedness in a person. For example, the Cambridge exchange program, organised by the school, that is due to be held at the end of this year would help us understand the English people better, while the various China exchange programs would help us understand and make friends with the Chinese scholars much more easily. In addition to that, events such as International Friendship Day, which is celebrated by many countries including Singapore, helps to foster the development of global-mindedness in a person too, by teaching us about the various cultures around the world and improving our interpersonal skills.

4. Briefly comment on the comment -
"A global mindset combines an openness to and awareness
of diversity    across cultures.  It respects how different countries
do things and has the imagination to appreciate why other cultures
do them that way. But, a global mindset is also incisive — to push the
limits of one's own way of doing things."

I agree with this statement. Global-mindedness is the acceptance of other cultures around us and the fact that we have to respect and appreciate these cultures no matter how different they may be. In addition to that, we should learn something from these cultures, for example how to do something in another way and strive to improve ourselves, while not thinking that only your approach to something is right and try other cultures' approaches.

1.            Being global-minded allow us to be aware of our surroundings and of the different cultures and religions of various individuals. At the same time, we should learn how to respect their religion and culture however weird it is. The vision of Victoria School is to teach each Victorian to be a Gentlemen, Sportsmen and Professional. In order to be a gentlemen and a professional, we must be global minded to ensure that we are able to communicate with scholars from different countries and also respect our classmates with different backgrounds and cultures more easily. Global-mindedness is also one of Victoria School's core values. So, it is very important for us to make sure that we are global-minded at all times. Being global-minded allow is to make friends with people from other nations easily. Being global-minded is an important value that would be very useful for us especially when we are working in the future as we are able to communicate and easily make friends with people of different backgrounds, religion and cultures.

2.            One example where the global-mindedness in me could be evident to my friends is when I communicate with the China scholars. This shows that I am able to respect their cultures and lifestyles. Thus, this action would allow us to form a strong friendship regardless of our different backgrounds. Global-mindedness would also be a very useful skill when we go for overseas learning journey as we are better able to communicate with the locals at that country and form friendships with much ease.

3.            The development of global-mindedness in a person is best fostered by the school programmers such as school camps where we go overseas to Malaysia for camping purposes. The school also organizes overseas exchange trips with schools in China and this is something that is very important in helping us be more aware of the lifestyles and cultures of the various types of people there. This would help us interact with our China scholars with more ease as we are able to understand their lifestyle better. However, as Victorians, we should also take some initiative to interact with our classmates especially the China scholars. This is turn, would allows us to bond better as a class.

4.            It is important for us to be determined to be global-minded before we can actually foster global-mindedness in ourselves. If we are just being global-minded for the sake of it, it would be very difficult to communicate with others and form friendships with each other. Friendships are formed as we understand each other and respect each other's culture, lifestyles and religions. Global mindedness also helps us to grow in body, mind and soul and in the process, be a much better, courteous and compassionate guy. Thus, global-mindedness is a very important skill that helps one to be a much better and easy-going person in the future.

1) Why is it important for every Victorian to be Global-minded?
As Victorians, we grow in an environment deeply enriched with culture and the school's own traditions as we are slowly groomed into future leaders in three different aspects: a Gentleman, a Professional and a Sportsman. As teenagers that grow up in a first world country where everything is treated for granted, it is essential to let the future generations to understand how truly fortunate they are and they should be grateful for whatever thats is given to them, and at the same time, working at their best to contribute to the society. Being global-minded allows us to understand the world around us as we discover the differences in one another but find much unique qualities within each one as well.
2)How may global-mindedness in you be evident to your friends?
By making an effort to participate in events such as international friendship day, or even to converse in other languages with schoolmates of different races. Global mindedness can also be seen from visitations to foreign classmates' houses, and understanding why they moved to Singapore instead of their home country.
3)What do you think best fosters the development of global mindedness in a person?
Schools and government may organize celebrations for certain cultural festivals in Singapore to give the citizens of other races an insight to the culture of that specific ethnic group. This will allow people to appreciate the beauty of the culture and learn to accept and understand one another. This will thus make many more much more curious to find out more, therefore becoming much more interested.
4) Briefly comment on the comment

''A global mindset combines an openness to and awareness of diversity across cultures. It respects how different countries do things and had the imagination to appreciate why other cultures do them that way. But a global mindset is also incisive- to push the limits of one's own way of doing things''

I agree. With a global mindset, we will be able to respect and appreciate the different cultures and traditions of other people in the world. Their ways of interpretting things may be different from us but we should always learn to appreciate others as everyone tend to do things differently.

1. It is important for every Victorian to be global minded and be open to new cultures or traditions. Only then we will learn to truly understand and appreciate the way things work around us. In the mordern world, it is important that we listen to other voices and respect new ideas or else one will lose out greatly.

2. I will learn to work with the scholars in my class and make it a fun yet enriching learning experience for the next 2 years. I will try to learn more about their culture and their way of life in their own countries.

3. I think the best way to foster global mindedness is through school immersion programmes, addition of scholars in the cohort etc. This allows the local students to interact and work with people from other countries. This is the best way as the locals and foreign students can learn and have fun at the same time.

4. I agree with the comment that we must be open and be able to respect new cultures so as to understand the way other countries do things. This allows us to discover new things and know more about the world, not just within our own country.

Q1.It is very improtant and necessary for our Victorians to be global mindedness. Because as the world developing,we have more and more chance to meet people from other countries.Especially in Singapore, there are many races and different people, we all have to get used to each other and get along with each other.Q2 In the camp, we experienced the Malysia culture, we visited the residents around our camp. We learned many new things. All these helped me know more about Malysia.
Q3. The best fosters the development of global mindedness in a person I think is the social study learning. In social study, we learn a lot of things related to the society, sometimes we learn things about other countries' conditions. That helps us know more about other countries and become more global mindedness
Q4. The global mind can combine different cultures ,different religons together. It can be regardless of race. It can make people get along with everyone. The one who has a global mindset can always do things better because he has a mutiple way of doing things

AnswerI agree with this comment as we are currently living in a world comprises many different culture and we have to deal with various people whoo belongs to all these cultures. Global-mindedness represents a respect to all the peaple around you in spite of race, culture and creed. There is a valid reason for every single culture to behave in a certain way. As an overseas student, I also feels the importance of getting used to the way Singaporeans think, talk and behave. But just like the comment has imphasized, we have to implement this global-mindedness into our daily life----to forsight how the world is going to combine as a united society, and what we can do to be part of it, to fuse ourselves into a different future.

Q4) Global mindset combines an openness to and awareness diversity of different cultures. It respects how different countries do things and has the imagination why other cultures do them that way. But, a global mindset is also incisive- to push the limits of one's own way of doing things.

I agreed with the statement. Everyone has their own way of doing things and we should learn to appreciate them. the statement is absolutely right to say that "respects how different countries do things".

Ans: I agree with this comment as global-mindedness is about appreciating other cultures in the society. Everyone has their own way of doing things and they have their reasons. Nevertheless, we should respect them appreciate the true meaning of certain actions. Adapting to the environment allows us to push the limits of our doings. As we understand the tradition of different cultures, we are thus being open to diverse society with people from all walks of life.
We should learn to mix with others so we can live in harmony.
